Igfig: Do you want to do a LAST TIME ON DUNGEON WORLD? HarryTheGaykid: wait i only have one bond HarryTheGaykid: is that suposed to be a thing Carmine: 2d6+2 DISCERN Fortuna: Carmine, DISCERN: [6, 5] = 13 Igfig: oh yeah, you started out with not very many Yin: Alright, so last time at Morsten Manor: Yin: http://labs.echonest.com/Uploader/index.html?trid=TRTNGGO148F411E32B&thresh=30 Carmine: what just happened here Carmine: what is about to happen Carmine: (no question really fits the 3, write-up wise) Yin: Cook up a bond you want to write, one for Carmine and one for Quorra for now. HarryTheGaykid: friendzoned by carmine Yin: Last time you left town and approached Morsten Manor, discovering it to now be run down and decrepit in the time since its abandonment. Yin: Harry broke away from the group to break in through the front, and was assaulted by a beast while the rest of you investigated around the back, finding both the old gardens and a locked mausoleum. Yin: As an unudually sudden night fell upon the manor grounds you found yourself in a dining room, and the seemingly decrepit building began to look brand new, before being swarmed by larvae wearing the faces of those in torment. Yin: You escaped down into the kitchens below, disgusted with Harry and his actions, leading to him being brought to death's gate multiple times as the intestines of a slaughtered pig tried to crush him. HarryTheGaykid: the good ol days Carmine: HarryTheGaykid cant even die right, the little shit Yin: Harry learned from Death of a large grey thing, something that was stealing away souls that belonged to Death's domain, before coming back to life yet again. Yin: Shortly after the intestines were cut to pieces, and you now find yourselves with a moment's peace in the kitchen. Bartleby: All right, so. Harry: "Ok. So. Guys." Harry: "I know i been a lil shit, but you gotta believe me when I say that death told me a large gray thing was stealing souls from him" Yin: The room is still dark, but the smell is gone and the light from Carmine's staff is enough to reveal that the pig carcass that had been tossed into the corner of the room is gone now. Harry: "And I think, due to us being in here, that its somewhere in here and they want us to take it out" Harry: death likes their souls after all Bartleby: First things first, I think I need to take one of these knives if I'm going to survive being grabbed by anything else Bartleby: which raises the question of why I don't have one already Harry: yeah good question Harry: how about everyone grab a knife Bartleby: but in any case, are there any that look good? Bartleby: Also, any idea where the pig went? Bartleby: I'll Discern Realities Harry: it died Bartleby: 2d6-1 Fortuna: Bartleby, 2d6-1: [3, 5] = 7 Bartleby: What here is useful to me? and I guess... What should I be on the lookout for? Yin: You only get 1 question actually. Bartleby: oh oops Bartleby: well then I guess the knife is my first priority, so just the first question Carmine: my sancuary is still up btw Carmine: "See Bartleby, Sucellus has healed quorra thrice now" quorra: "I feel pretty great now. quorra: " Yin: What here is useful to you? Well clearly these knives. They seem of good quality, they aren't bent or broken or flimsy. They aren't a proper weapon, but you could still do some good damage with them. Bartleby: "Good for them, really busy right now." Harry: how many knives are there Carmine: " :P " Yin: Besides the knives there are three doors in the kitchen, one of which leads back to that dining room you were in before, and two others that you don't know beyond. Yin: Also the Sanctuary is definitely still up, yar. Bartleby: okay, I guess I wanted to know if one was more suitable than the others, but if they're all good I'll just grab one at random and stick it in my belt Harry: I do as well Yin: There are enough knives that if you wanted you could all take one, yar. Carmine: isnt Harry unconsious now? Harry: no im up Harry: and healed i think? Yin: Nah he is conscious I think. Harry: let me check my hp Carmine: :/ Harry: yeah im at 5hp Yin: I don't remember if anyone healed you actually. Bartleby: "Okay, it looks like we have a moment. So let me just say:" Harry: i thought you gave me 5hp Bartleby: "WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON IN THIS PLACE" Carmine: i never healed Harry Harry: no i mean yin did from me coming back to life Yin: But yar, as a note next to the knife put that it does the worst of your normal damage, so you roll your damage twice and take the worst. Carmine: ah Bartleby: aright, cool Yin: I don't do that? Yin: I have no health giving ability. Harry: ok then 1hp im at Harry: i guess once i went down i just didnt edit it Carmine: "can we kill him now?" Harry: so first up i need to be healed if im gunna take part Yin: Quorra is capable of healing as well, if Carmine won't, if neither will then yar. Harry: hmmm Bartleby: "I don't think Carmine has any healing to spare for you, kid." Harry: can i use a tablecloth or something to bandage my own wounds quorra: I guess I'll heal him. Harry: *o* Harry: <3 Yin: Yar there are some towels, you could use one as a makeshift bandage. Harry: ok Harry: so ill use one of those knives to cut up one of the towels Harry: and begin bandaging my wounds quorra: Quorra plucks her lute and weaves a song about how she doesn't really want to heal Harry, but if anyone has to be strangled by pig intestines he might as well be the one. quorra: 1d8 Fortuna: quorra, 1d8: [8] = 8 quorra: There you go Harry. Harry: aww yis Harry: can i add the towel bandage to that heal as well Yin: Wait, you gotta roll your 2d6+charisma yet. Bartleby: Meanwhile I'm trying to see up the stairs, whether the larvae followed us through or what Yin: Or, actually you roll it after the effect takes place, interesting. Yin: You still need to roll it though, yarp yar. Bartleby: because I am getting jumpy when there are all these monsters that I know are around but can't see quorra: 2d6+1 Fortuna: quorra, 2d6+1: [2, 2] = 5 quorra: Wump wump. Yin: Mark xp. Harry: oh Harry: so how much do i get healed Yin: Also I'm going to say the healing goes through all the same, you get that 8 hp Harry, and you get 4 more from the bandage. Harry: ok cool Harry: also Harry: i take one towel because hitchhikers guide taught me towels are imperative Bartleby: Oh, I didn't realize you could get hp back from binding your wounds Bartleby: I wouldn't have drunk my potion if I'd known that Yin: Speaking of wump wump, Yin: Bartleby, as you near the door leading back to the dining room you hear something start slamming into it. Carmine: "why are we helping him?" Yin: Well he was using something in the room that I decided he could use as a bandage. Harry: because someone needs to be strangled by intestines Yin: I don't think you guys have any proper bandages on you. Harry: may as well be me quorra: "I quorra: d really like to get out of here alive. If that means Harry dies, I'll take it. But I' Yin: But yar, you hear something slamming into the door from the dining room Bartleby, what do you do? Harry: ltes Harry: not open that quorra: m not gonna give up a chance to live because he's an asshole." Harry: lets go through one of the other doors quorra: I bet it's the larvae. quorra: Let's not go in there. Bartleby: "Probably, but let's not find out." Harry: "Lets take one of the other doors" Bartleby: "I guess we should keep moving." Bartleby: I guess I'll open one of the doors, holding my shield in front of me in case something jumps out at us quorra: Quorra follows with her sword held ready. Harry: And harry holds his towel menacingly Yin: So which door are you guys going to take? The one that is on the same wall as the stairs up to the dining room or the one on the other wall? Bartleby: the left one Harry: lets take the one on the same wall Harry: it probably leads down Bartleby: always go left Bartleby: uh, same wall I guess Yin: Alright, you cautiously open the door to reveal a small hallway with staircases, stairs going up, stairs going down. It's a smaller stairway, probably used by servants. Yin: The lamps in the room are lit. Harry: can we take a lamp off the wall Yin: The thudding against the door from the dining room gets louder. Harry: ooh boy Harry: harry closes the door behind us Bartleby: Up or down? Harry: lets go down Bartleby: I'm thinking down, easier to defend Bartleby: okay Harry: down down down to the bottom of the house Bartleby: down Yin: The lamps in here are attached to the wall. Harry: lets go mines of moria on this bitch Carmine: i have a light Bartleby: I am all senses on high alert because this place is stressful as hell Harry: maybe we can throw the lamp at something if we need to set it on fire Harry: fire is fun Yin: Yeah, Carmine's staff is still giving off light as well. Yin: Alright, as Harry shut the door behind him you can't hear the thumps from above anymore, going down the staircase it creaks beneath your feet. Yin: You make your way down to a dimly lit hallway with 8 doors along the walls, and another door at the end of the hall opposite of where you have come down. Harry: god dammit Harry: lets all take a door? Harry: or just peak into each one as we walk quorra: That sounds like a terrible idea. Yin: http://labs.echonest.com/Uploader/index.html?trid=TRFCNUA1499381A0D7&thresh=65 Bartleby: "How far underground are we, even?" Carmine: "two floors" Bartleby: We entered on the second floor, right? Harry: "Alright who says we have a nice little picnic Yin: Yeah, you entered on the second floor, went down to the first for the kitchen, seems like you'd be in the basement now. Harry: so basement 1 Harry: ok Harry: wait idea Harry: lets take the lanterns and toss them into the rooms Harry: so we dont have to walk in to check them out Bartleby: the lanterns were attached to the wall Harry: oh Harry: well never mind that then Bartleby: also they would break and start a fire Harry: harry slams open the nearest door Harry: loudly Harry: good Harry: fires are good Yin: The room beyond the door is dark, from the bit of light spilling in through the door you think you can make out a bed in the corner, and some other modest furnishings. Bartleby: "I really hope this room isn't haunted Bartleby: " Harry: "If my games I played back at the pub are right, this is a place we can rest and heal" Bartleby: "Also, who would sleep in a basement?" Bartleby: But I'll go in, shield at the ready Harry: ig my room is in the basement :C Bartleby: are they mistreating you waffle Harry: i built the room Bartleby: are they doing weird things to your mind? Bartleby: Do you ever see the sun? Harry: no Bartleby: Oh, this is at home Yin: How far in are you going? As far as the light goes or into the darkness? Harry: thats why im so pale Bartleby: I thought you were taking about at uni Harry: lets have the person with the light go in Harry: oh no Harry: hmm Harry: lets discern reality Harry: whats the roll for that again Bartleby: yeah, carmine come in behind me, I don't want to be in the dark Yin: +Wis. quorra: 2d6+1 Fortuna: quorra, 2d6+1: [2, 3] = 6 quorra: Damn. Harry: 2d6+1 Fortuna: Harry, 2d6+1: [5, 2] = 8 Harry: ayy Yin: Mark xp for Quorra. Carmine: yeah ill be behind Bartleby Harry: is 9 enough or 10 i forget Yin: 10 is the best range start. Harry: dang Harry: ok Harry: so harry Yin: 8 is good enough for a single question though. Harry: being unable to immediately discern stuff Harry: o Harry: okay then Harry: what here is not what it appears to be Yin: Quorra were you trying to discern any realities about the room? quorra: Yeah. Yin: Hmmm... Harry: lets say i look around the furniture Harry: so the question isnt so broad Harry: or around the walls for a secret door Carmine: 2d6+2 Fortuna: Carmine, 2d6+2: [2, 5] = 9 Carmine: what should i lookout for Yin: So Harry, what here is not what it appears to be? Well, looking through the room, looking through the drawers and such, you're pretty certain that despite the furnishings no one has ever lived in this room. Ever. No wear, no dust, it seems to be a room for someone to stay in but there was never a person who did. Harry: hmmm Harry: interesting Harry: i mention that to everyome Harry: are there no knickknacks or anything in here Harry: or stuff to loot Bartleby: "Then it's probably safer here? Let's close the door and have a rest." Yin: Quorra while you are looking around the room you don't really pick up on anything, but you hear a noise in the hallway, and looking out you see that some of the lamps have gone out. Harry: YEAH GREAT PLACE TO REST quorra: "Uhhh, guys? Harry: Harry shuts the door Harry: "no worries" Harry: "we good" Bartleby: "Not a long rest." Bartleby: "But we need to plan our next move" Bartleby: (I heard you Quorra, but I don't think Bartleby did) Yin: Carmine, what should you look out for? You think that bed looks comfortable. It's not made right though, the blanket on top is hanging loose, not tucked in at all. Seems strange considering what Harry said. Harry: ghost? quorra: "I'd liek to leave here as soon as possible." Yin: So what are you guys doing? Harry: lets actually rest Carmine: "no arguement here" Harry: can carmine put up sanctuary Yin: She could cast to set up a sanctuary again, yeah. Bartleby: Who was that directed at, Carmine? Quorra? Carmine: "Sucellus, we followed your plan to get here, how should we proceed?" Carmine: 2d6+2 GUIDANCE Fortuna: Carmine, GUIDANCE: [6, 5] = 13 Carmine: bam Harry: "wait wait. We followed some stinkin' GODS advice to get here?" Harry: "And look where that got us!" Harry: "Neck deep in haunted" Bartleby: "Shh." Yin: Clearly you have suffered quite a bit and Sucellus responds. Hmm.. Carmine: "it got us safe so far, unlike you who when through the front and ignored sucellus have almost died" Carmine: "should have died" Harry: "Gods have never helped anyone properly, shoulda asked how to get into this safely instead of where we should go" Carmine goes back to ignoring Harry Harry: "you went in the back and got bombarded by slug things!" Harry: harry huffs at being ignored quorra: "Harry, all you've done so far is complain and break a health potion." Yin: Carmine you see the image of a hammear appear in the room, and it starts to hammer, it repeats the hammering motion hitting the bed until it fades from view. Carmine: "something is wrong with the bed" Harry: you asked how to proceed Yin: A hammer, not a hammear, there are no pig ears involved. Harry: not whats wrong in here Harry: if anything its saying we should rest Carmine: "harry, test it" Carmine: "rest" Harry: "Only for you" Harry: he sits down on it Harry: butt hops a lil Harry: and gets under the covers and lies down Yin: Nothing happens. Yin: You are comfy. Harry: "This is nice, why dont you join me carmine" quorra: "Carmine, what did your god show you?" Yin: What do you do now? Carmine: "a hammer was pounding at this bed. i think it is a sign for rest after our tiredness" Harry: "hey god's saying to take a nap" quorra: "Let's see if there's something under the bed." Harry: "I call the bed though cause im already in it" Bartleby: "I don't think we have time for a real rest. How long have we been inside? How long do you think it'll take to be day again?" Bartleby: "I don't think I could close my eyes in here, anyway." Harry: "Im gunna be honest here I dont think its gunna be day as long as we are in here" Carmine: "it is probably day and night and day and night" Carmine: "fourth or fifth night already" Bartleby: "Maybe it only happens while we're indoors? If we could get outside while it's day, it might stay day." Carmine: "it was happening when we were out by the tomb" Harry: "What tomb" Carmine: "it is the grounds" Bartleby: "But slower, wasn't it? What if we got outside the walls?" Yin: Quorra, while they are talking you notice a light move past the door down the hallway. quorra: "Guys we are not alone. Do't get in that bed." Bartleby: "Shit, where?" quorra: "Down the hall." Harry: "Yeah where should we shit haha" Bartleby: (in a loud whisper, that) Harry: stage whisper Harry: is the word youre looking for Bartleby: not quite, a stage whisper is when you want to sound like you're whispering but want everyone to hear Bartleby: this is kind of the opposite Harry: ruh roh Harry: def not a stage whisper then Harry: does carmine look suitably nervous Harry: for harry to go barging out Yin: I dunno. Yin: Are you planning to get out of the bed and barge out? Harry: harry thinks he wants to seem brave for carmine Harry: so if she looks nervous or scared hes gunna barge out Harry: carmine how do ye look Carmine: i am turned away from you Harry: hmmmmm Harry: harry gets up and literally walks around to look at your face Harry: it's really awkward Yin: Probably looking at the door like the rest? Yin: Hold on Harry. Carmine: yeah Yin: How are you getting out of the bed? Carmine: with the group Harry: yes Yin: Not are, how? Harry: oh Harry: uh Harry: just flinging off the blankets Harry: floomping my legs over the side Yin: You notice that the top blanket has shifted since you got in. Harry: and up Harry: :I Yin: Alright, roll + strenght. Harry: oh boy Harry: 2d6 Fortuna: Harry, 2d6: [5, 6] = 11 Harry: YE Yin: Alright, so when you start to get up out of the bed you notice that that top blanket has gotten a bit tight, its edges having creeped up closer to your head while you lay there, you have to shove the blanket off of you along with the rest of the covers forcefully. Harry: "oh god guys the blanket is alive i think or something i DONT KNOW BUT ITS SCARY" Harry: he yelledthat Yin: The covers are now in a pile on the floor. Harry: i step on them and kick them under the bed Bartleby: okay, I whirl and stab the covers repeatedly with my spear Bartleby: oh okay Harry: HAH Harry: well Harry: no ill let you do that first Harry: itd be funny to have bartleby stab the covers a bunch of times Bartleby: yeah I thought so Harry: and then i step on them and kick them under a bed Carmine: "guys i think harry is insane" Bartleby: "...I'm not sure I'm not, right now." Yin: You stab and jab the pile of covers, tearing up the sheets and making a mess of them till you see the floor through the holes. Harry then kicks them under the bed. Harry: "if intestines can come alive then a blanket can creep up to my head while im lying down Harry: "Heck yeah team spear and kick" Bartleby ignores harry quorra: "It's almost like laying in the bed in the strange, haunted mansion was a bad idea." Bartleby: and then goes back to being quiet as best he can. Bartleby: "Are they still out there?" Harry: "If we can take down a haunted blanket" Harry: "I bet we CAN TAKE DOWN ANYTHING" Harry: harry storms out the door, whip at the ready Bartleby: oh geez Carmine: (goddammit i was ||this close to taking out Harry) Yin: The hallway is dark, you see nothing beyond the light that comes out the door from Carmine's staff. Harry: i whip blindly down the hall Carmine: (next time, suce) Yin: You whip blindly down the hall. Harry: a whip can reach about 10 ish feet in front of you if you are whipping specifically to check something Bartleby: "Harry, get the hell back in here." Harry: 'thers nothing even here" Harry: "yall are babies" Bartleby: I pause for a few moments, then close the door behind Harry." Carmine: ^5 Bartleby: er, cancel the quote at the end there Bartleby: ^5 Harry: i scream and make gargled noises while thumping on the ground and the door Yin: As you do that Harry, you hear nothing. Harry: "okay guys ther actually is nothing out here" Bartleby: Harry hears nothing, or the rest of us do? Harry: "are you going to sit in that room for the next 5 years" Yin: You guys don't hear Harry yelling or making gargling noises, the room is quiet. Carmine turns to see if the blanket has moved Harry: im gunna roll another discern reality Harry: 2d6+1 Fortuna: Harry, 2d6+1: [5, 1] = 7 Harry: what is about to happen Carmine: Harry alone in the dark Yin: Carmine you look at the pile of covers under the bed, you don't see a blanket among the sheets. Carmine: hmm Carmine: "the good blanket is gone" Yin: Harry, what is about to happen? Now that you are quiet you hear breathing above you. Bartleby: "Just a question, Carmine... Your god wanted someone to get in that bed. Is it possible that your god of SUFFERING might not have our best interests in mind?" Harry: I go to open the door and enter the room again Harry: calmly as if i dont hear anything Yin: You open the door to find a dark room. Harry: well shit Bartleby: "Also, isn't it under the bed?" Carmine: "it almost killed Harry, Bartleby" Harry: i shut the door again Carmine: "is that not good" Bartleby: oh wait I misread that Bartleby: "...You have a point." Yin: Harry, are you closing the door behind you and staying in the dark room or did you go back into the hall with the breathing? Harry: i shut the door and stayed in the dark room Yin: Alright. You are in a room, it is dark. Harry: harry lives by "certain death or an unknown, ill take the unknown" Harry: he spins his whip around in front of him like a plane rutter Carmine: " Harry is suffering personified, sucellus was going to reveal the joy of having him gone" Carmine: "but he cant even die right, the little shit" Bartleby: "Is he still out there? I was expecting him to be screaming and crying by now." Yin: Harry you hear the door open behind you. Yin: http://labs.echonest.com/Uploader/index.html?trid=TRHCYTH14993891B0A&sq=0&thresh=50 Harry: im leaning against it so it cant open Yin: Oh. Yin: I thought you were doing the propeller thing to try and not bump into stuff. Carmine: 2d6+2 DISCERN Fortuna: Carmine, DISCERN: [4, 3] = 9 Harry: no its just to prevent something from jumpinga t me Yin: You feel something push on the door. Carmine: what should i lookout for Harry: would the roll to listen to the room be discern reality Harry: or just wisdom Yin: Discern reality is more taking a moment or two to take account of the situation, yar. Harry: so discern then yar Harry: 2d6+1 Fortuna: Harry, 2d6+1: [1, 6] = 8 Harry: hmm Yin: Time which you may not have as the door is shoved more forcefully against behind you, what do you do? Harry: oh Harry: is the slamming rhythmic Harry: like every 2 seconds of something Yin: What should you be on the lookout for Carmine? Looking around you can see the blanket now, it is hidden up against the darkest corner under the bed, away from the rest of the sheets. Harry: would you guys plz come help try and find me Harry: or help me kill this monster i am about to scrap with quorra: "He tried to kill Harry, maybe he's on our side." quorra: "I'll call him Blanky." Harry: fuck you Carmine: "FOUND IT" Carmine: "there" Yin: No, forcefully as in if you don't do something then that door is bowling you over and opening. Carmine points Harry: oh Harry: well then i step out of the way prepared for whatever is slamming on me to plow through Harry: so that i can then ambush it from behind Carmine: brb peeing Yin: Alright, I'm thinking defy danger+dex to not get knocked down by the door then, yar. Harry: 2d6+2 Fortuna: Harry, 2d6+2: [6, 2] = 10 quorra: "What do you guys think? Should we charm the blanket monster?" Yin: Alright, you get out of the way of the door and you hear it slam into the wall adjacent to you, it is still dark, you can hear the breathing again. Bartleby: "Is it actually a monster? It didn't seem to do anything when I stabbed it..." I poke it with the butt of my spear, but gently. Bartleby: Discerning Realities Bartleby: 2d6-1 Fortuna: Bartleby, 2d6-1: [3, 1] = 3 Carmine: charm only works on people though? Yin: mark xp. Bartleby: Finally! I fail something! quorra: I more meant like... be really nice to it. quorra: Oh. quorra: My bard lore. quorra: Is this a creature most unusual? Harry: i quickly leap onto its back with my whip, i wrap the whip around its neck and begin choking it Igfig: Could you paste in everything that happened after Harry jumped on the thing, for Fortuna's benefit? Bartleby quit. Igfig: starting with "the blanket doesn't move" Yin: The blanket doesn't move Bartleby, instead you hear a door slam in the distance. 19:36 Harry mother fucker 19:36 Harry im just in one of the other rooms down the hallway 19:36 Harry like the psychic gym 19:36 Carmine "hi, blanky!" 19:36 Harry in red and blue 19:36 quorra "Who's a good blanky." 19:36 Yin Harry, you leap forwards blindly and land on nothing. 19 Yin: I don't think I did that right. Carmine: overflows can suck my dick Yin: As you get out the door you feel something a bit familiar wrapping around your neck, just before your feet lose contact with the ground and they begin to squeeze. Carmine: take that mibbit Yin: 1d10 Fortuna: Yin, 1d10: [4] = 4 Harry: gdi Yin: Armor helps here, so you take 3 damage. Harry: ill do the infamous harry squeeze Harry: and flop out Yin: also right, bardic lore thing. Harry: 2d6+2 Fortuna: Harry, 2d6+2: [3, 4] = 9 Yin: Yeah, go ahead and ask me anything about the blanket. Yin: You recognize it as a Cloaker. Yin: Alright. Bartleby: OH Bartleby: quick, tell us Yin: Alright so Harry you manage to squeeze and wiggle your way free of the hands grasping about your neck, but before you can get very far one of the hands grabs hold of your arms and holds you back, what do you do? Harry: hmm Yin: Quorra gets to ask any one question, yar. Harry: am i in a position to place an elbow in its face quorra: Can we get it to be nice to us? Yin: You can't tell Harry, it is dark and you can't see. Harry: well i mena Harry: judging by position Harry: if it grabbed my arm i can assume if its humanoid where its face is Yin: Recalling what you saw of its arms last time at the chimney, it had some long arms, you aren't sure. Harry: okay i wont take the risk Harry: instead Bartleby: Man, I really need to hear you say something Quorra so I can bring up my "Quorra is soft, but I will make her hard like me" bond Harry: ill dive forwards into a roll so it flips over me and slams into the wall infront quorra: Quorra ain't fraida no blanket. Bartleby: no, you want to make friends with it, that's even worse Bartleby: you are so soft Harry: lets say my fast feet take it by surprise so i can roll with dex Bartleby: wait no that didn't sound right Carmine: we should totes friend it Bartleby strokes Quorra's cheek. "You are so soft..." Carmine: shush Harry Bartleby: Becaus if you have I want to spout some lore about how evil cloakers are Harry: yin what u doin] Carmine: no its not evil it tried to kill Harry Yin: Can you get the cloaker to be nice to you? Far as you know they don't understand language. If anyone has ever succeeded, let alone attempted, to befriend one you haven't heard of it. They tend to just engulf people and try to kill them. Carmine: could be usefull Yin: Also Harry that is pretty shaky reasoning, I think that still sounds like a +strength move. Bartleby: ah, well there we go quorra: Well that's unfortunate. Harry: i figured Harry: okkkay Harry: 2d6 Fortuna: Harry, 2d6: [1, 5] = 6 Harry: frick Yin: Mark xp. quorra: "Guys, as glad as I am that we're not wherever Harry is, that thing is at least a little dangerous." Bartleby: "What is it?" Carmine: "a blanket" quorra: "A Cloaker." Bartleby: "!" Carmine: "!" quorra: "It'll devour you entirely if you let it." Bartleby immediately starts stabbing the bed Bartleby: around where the cloaker is Bartleby: "Don't let it get out from underneath!" Yin: You try to fling whatever this thing is over your head Harry, but you are instead simply lifted up off the ground again as the second hand grabs hold of your neck again, but not before you cry out "Frick!" loudly. Yin: The single hand clenches around your neck. Yin: 1d10 Fortuna: Yin, 1d10: [6] = 6 Harry: hmmmm Harry: argh Yin: Other folks, you hear what sounds like Harry yell Frick out in the hallway. Yin: You take 5 damage this time. Yin: Cause armor, yar. Carmine: "ooo, maybe he's found another bedsheet" Yin: Though that puts you at 5 I believe, healed 12 from 1, lost 3, lost 5, yar, 5. Harry: okay so now assuming the doors work like i think Harry: I turn around and go with the motion of it pulling back into the room Harry: to hopefully appear back with them Bartleby: "Somebody check on him," I say, between spear thrusts quorra: "Surprisingly, Harry seems to have gotten himself into trouble by running off on his own." quorra: "Do we really need to?" Carmine: "no, i think whatever is killing him doesnt need our help" Carmine: "we could offer though if you want" Yin: The thing just lifts you up Harry, it is in the hallway. Harry: then with the motion im slamming into it Carmine: "NEED HELP??" Harry: to push us both into the room Harry: "YEAH" Harry: 2d6 strenghtfor that Fortuna: Harry, strenghtfor that: [2, 2] = 4 Harry: DANG Yin: And yar, back in the room. Carmine: "nope, nothing" Bartleby: Meanwhile, should I be rolling anything for my cloaker-stabbing? Yin: Stabbing happens through the bed, Quorra and Carmine you can see the blanket actively moving to avoid the stabs now. Bartleby: Shall I H&S Yin: Um, it wouldn't be hack and slash cause you aren't in melee, but I think you would have to roll to hit it, yar. Carmine: dex? Yin: So probably defy danger of some sort. Harry: ? Harry: for who Bartleby: that seems contrary to the nature of defy danger Yin: You are stabbing through the bed so maybe strength. Bartleby: how about a custom move? Yin: True, true, um. Bartleby: Like, the kind where I have three options, choose two on a success Yin: Meh, just roll +strength. Bartleby: ok Bartleby: 2d6+2 Fortuna: Bartleby, 2d6+2: [4, 1] = 7 Bartleby: So I hit it but suffer some kind of setback Yin: Harry you try to catch your foot against the wall to try and shove the thing into one of the doorways you know are in the hall, but you aren't able to get a solid enough footing to push properly, and the thing just keeps on choking you in the darkness. Yin: 1d10 Fortuna: Yin, 1d10: [1] = 1 Harry: so no damage Harry: thank u fortuna Fortuna: You're welcome. Harry: im glad she recognizes my lazy typing too Harry: thank u igfig Yin: That being said, apparently what you did was enough to throw its choking off a little. Bartleby: You're welcome. Carmine: he should know our door though, from the light under it Harry: im trying to push it back through the door to redo the teleportation that sent me here Yin: Yar, roll your damage twice and take the worst result, you are stabbing through a bed, and then stuff happens. Harry: i should, in theory, send me back Yin: Yeah, Harry you can see light coming from under one of the doorways further down the hall ahead of you. Bartleby: 1d10kh1+2 Harry: i know but i cant get away from this thing Harry: my plan is to push me back into the room Bartleby: oh I guess I don't have that functionality yet Harry: ill pop through their doorway Bartleby: 2#1d10+2 Fortuna: Bartleby, 1d10+2: [2] = 4; 1d10+2: [3] = 5 Harry: in the middle of the group Bartleby: 4 damage, okay Yin: Right. Yin: So your lance catches the cloaker under the bed and rips a tear along one of its edges, but all the hooks and edges on your spear catch on the framework on the bed. The cloaker itself flees from under the bed towards Carmine and Quorra. Yin: Carmine and/or Quorra, what do you do? quorra: I'll slash with my sword. quorra: 2d6 Fortuna: quorra, 2d6: [2, 3] = 5 quorra: Damn. Bartleby: "Don't let it out!" Carmine: can i try knife throwing Yin: You could make a volley attempt with the knife, yeah. quorra: As long as I trap it, the actual sword hit is less imporant. quorra: I can just get tangled up. Carmine: 2d6+1 KNIFE Fortuna: Carmine, KNIFE: [3, 5] = 9 Carmine: take what i get Yin: Quorra you bring your sword down towards it but miss it. Carmine: what is knife pinning damage anyway Yin: You have a choice to make, you can choose to move to get a shot placing you in danger of my choosing, or take what you get which is -1d6 damage. Carmine: take what i can get Yin: Alright, roll 1d6, then roll another 1d6. Carmine: 1d6 Fortuna: Carmine, 1d6: [4] = 4 Carmine: 1d6 Fortuna: Carmine, 1d6: [2] = 2 Yin: So 2 damage then. Harry: so whats going on with me Yin: So full bit now: Quorra brings her sword down but misses the cloaker, Carmine tosses her knife and it hits, but it bounces with the floor just beneath it. Yin: It is at that moment that the cloaker lunges up off the ground going right for Quorra. Yin: What do you do? Yin: So Harry, I am going to try and make a text picture here. Yin: --------------------------------------- one hallway wall Yin: Harry - creature quorra: Point my sword straight out so it impales itself. Yin: ----------------------------------other hallway wall Yin: The door would be be to the left of the creature, yar. Harry: wheres the door Harry: so right infront of me Yin: And it is holding you up in the air. Harry: ill back flip in the air like a pirorueteutertte idk how to spell that word Carmine: i will get in batter's stance with my staff Harry: that will twist its hands and wrists and likely either hurt like hell or free me Harry: 2d6+2 Fortuna: Harry, 2d6+2: [5, 5] = 12 Carmine: and swiiiiiing Yin: Alright, I'm thinking that is defy danger on your part Quorra, either dexterity for acting fast or intellience for coming up with it so fast. Yin: You are aware that he has you by the arm and the neck though right? Bartleby: So my spear is stuck in the bed? It's going to be a hell of a time getting it out, so I guess I leap at the cloaker with my knife quorra: 2d6+1 Fortuna: quorra, 2d6+1: [5, 3] = 9 Yin: It's not like you are just floating there. Harry: yeah you can flip like that Yin: But you also got a 12, so hmm.. Harry: im using my legs like a forwards motion to spin myself Yin: Quorra you bring up your sword in time to catch it, roll damage, it is still going to get to you though, yar. Carmine: what about my swiiiiing quorra: How much damage is it? Yin: Bards are 1d6. quorra: 1d6 Fortuna: quorra, 1d6: [2] = 2 Carmine: 2d6 to babe ruth Fortuna: Carmine, to babe ruth: [3, 1] = 4 Carmine: i miss, sorries Yin: So Harry you manage to pull off a magnificent spin, freeing yourself from the hands and knocking the creature away from you, least, from what you can tell in this darkness, what do you do? Bartleby: Actually, change of plans, instead of my knife I'm going to try and get it behind my shield Harry: which direction is the light under the door Yin: Away from where the monster is. Harry: then i go thataway Bartleby: that'll hold it in place nearly as well if I can get it against the wall, and it'll also make it harder for it to enwrap me Bartleby: 2d6+2 I suppose Fortuna: Bartleby, I suppose: [2, 4] = 8 Yin: Carmine, as you roll to swing hard and miss the cloaker, your staff flies from your hand and the instant it leaves your grasp the room is plunged into darkness. Carmine: "heh" Carmine goes to look for it Carmine: actually Yin: Um. Carmine: i can light something elde! Carmine: esle Carmine: else Carmine: that one Yin: Bartleby, maybe look at the Defend move? I think some of the stuff from that might be what you are looking at. Bartleby: Ah yeah, that'd make more sense wouldn't it Carmine: i am touching my armor! Yin: Harry as you run down the hallway the light goes out. Bartleby: Should I make a new Con roll, or just replace the bonus on my roll? Carmine: 2d6+2 LIGHT ARMOR Fortuna: Carmine, LIGHT ARMOR: [4, 1] = 7 Harry: GOD DAMN Harry: i go through the door anyways just cause its sort of my only hope Yin: Yeah, you should probably make a new con roll, if it is worse I'll let you keep this one though since you did that roll before I mentioned defend. Carmine: lighting myself would bring attention to me i think Bartleby: okay Carmine: i am light Bartleby: 2d6+1 Fortuna: Bartleby, 2d6+1: [6, 2] = 9 Bartleby: effectively the same Bartleby: so Hold 1 Yin: Also yar, carmine cast her light spell. Yin: Which option are you going with Carmine? Unwelcome attention? Casting distances you from Sucellus? Or you can't cast the spell again until you take time to commune? Yin: How are you spending that hold Bartleby? Carmine: well i lost my holy stick to light it, i distance myself Harry: snuggling Bartleby: I was going to wait until Quorra was attacked, or is that already happening? Yin: Harry, the light turns on just as you open the door, you opened a door between you and the one that gives off light, you can see where it is now. Yin: It is in the process of happening. Harry: what Bartleby: I'd be wanting to halve the attack's effect/damage I guess, mainly to prevent Quorra from being enwrapped Yin: I was going to have you roll a +int defy danger to open the correct door, but stuff happened quickly. Bartleby: if that makes sense Carmine gets staff Harry: i bring my whip to bear (is that the right variation of the word bear) and whip it blindly fowards Yin: Or, maybe redirect it makes a little more sense, but nah I can sense that one up, yar. Carmine: once i get my staff back im swinging again Yin: You grab hold of the cloaker before it manages to engulf Quorra, preventing it from wrapping her up. Yin: Whip blindly forwards into the dark room? You can see where the door with light is shining out from under it Harry, it is right next to you. Yin: It is the same door as before. Carmine: 2d6 H/S Fortuna: Carmine, H/S: [2, 5] = 7 Harry: oh i thought id entered the room Carmine: woo Harry: i enter the room and THEN whip blindly forwards because i hear the sounds of combat Yin: Nah you just opened the door is all. Harry: i wanna get in a hit quick without pausing to examine the scene Carmine: 1d6 DAMAGE Fortuna: Carmine, DAMAGE: [5] = 5 Carmine: suck it, blanky Yin: Alright, Harry you enter just in time to see Carmine whacking a blanket with her staff. Harry: i know that blanket Harry: im INFURIATED with that blanket Harry: i HATE THAT BLANKET Harry: i swing my whip to murder the blanket Harry: 2d6+2 Fortuna: Harry, 2d6+2: [6, 6] = 14 Harry: HAH Bartleby: wow Yin: Roll the 1d6 again Carmine. Harry: death is in harry's eyes Carmine: 1d6 again? Fortuna: Carmine, again?: [3] = 3 Yin: Yar. Yin: It doesn't make a whole lot of sense that it would damage you cause the way the thing works is wrapping up around people, so, actually I'm not sure what that is for. Yin: Ignore the 3. Yin: Harry roll your 1d8 for damage. Carmine: on it Harry: that was a perfect roll Harry: i dont get anything out of it? Harry: 1d8 Fortuna: Harry, 1d8: [3] = 3 Harry: see like that aint anything like a perfect roll Yin: You can choose to risk harm to do more damage. Harry: i thought itd be a critical Harry: oh yeah okay ill do that Yin: At 10 or higher you take no damage, but can choose to take damage in order to deal more, yar. Yin: Alright, roll another 1d6. Harry: 1d6 Fortuna: Harry, 1d6: [4] = 4 Harry: 7 damage total Harry: noice Yin: Nice. Harry: its noice yin Yin: The cloaker spasms between the shield, Quorra, and Harry before going still. Harry: how torn up is the cloak Yin: It's pretty torn up, it stopped moving now. Bartleby: oh phew Harry: ok Harry: i put it on Yin: More importantly though, after it stops moving is when a large hand slams into Harry's back flinging him across the room. Yin: 1d10 Fortuna: Yin, 1d10: [2] = 2 Bartleby: Stab it again to make sure it's really dead Harry: GOD DAMMIT Yin: You take 1 damage. Bartleby: oh wait Bartleby: Would I be able to slam the door, or is it already too inside for that? Harry: it has long arms Bartleby: If it is, I'm going to jump in the way of /that/ and defend this room, while yelling "Somebody get me my spear!" Harry: you might be able to break its arm if its on the other side Harry: can i indiana jones his spear with my whip Yin: Just through the doorway you can see a large black skinned thing, vaguely humanoid, one of its arms up to cover its face from the light, the other being pulled back from the blow. Yin: You could slam the door shut still, yar. quorra: BURN HIM CARMINE Yin: http://labs.echonest.com/Uploader/index.html?trid=TRWZEYT1496FC29A38&sq=0 Bartleby: Okay, then I will Bartleby: Probably a Defy Danger with Str? Yin: Sounds good to me. Bartleby: 2d6+2 Fortuna: Bartleby, 2d6+2: [5, 2] = 9 Yin: Alright, you slam the door shut but it manages to get its arm in before the door closes all the way. Harry: ow Bartleby: did that hurt its arm? Yin: Um, roll a 1d4. Bartleby: 1d4 Fortuna: Bartleby, 1d4: [1] = 1 Yin: It is making noises, but they don't sound like noises of pain. Carmine: hmmm if it hates light Carmine: 2d6+1 light my beat stick Fortuna: Carmine, light my beat stick: [6, 1] = 8 Yin: What option are you choosing Carmine? Bartleby: well I'll keep holding this door, I hope you can keep it from tearing off my scalp Carmine: unwanted spot Yin: Wait, wait wait. Carmine: or attraction Carmine: whatever the first one is Yin: Nevermind, unwait wait. Carmine: and i will hit the thing with lightstick Carmine: 2d6 Fortuna: Carmine, 2d6: [2, 2] = 4 Carmine: no i wont Yin: Alright, you cast light on your beat stick and you bring yourself over near the door, I'm guessing you were going to poke the light stick out the door anyways right? Yin: Right. Carmine: yeah Carmine: i cannot hit things with lightstick Yin: You try and smack it in the face with your light stick but you can't get a good angle through the opening of the door, the creature slams its arm into you. Yin: 1d10 Fortuna: Yin, 1d10: [1] = 1 Yin: You have no armor so 1 damage. Carmine: sucellus doesnt want me to take the easy way out Harry: aw yis Carmine: i have armor Carmine: it is glowing Harry: yin we need a new snog Yin: Ineffectually, as it pulls its arm back through the door recoiling from the light, allowing the door to slam close. Harry: lets open the door and kill this douche Bartleby: We could all use a good snog Waffle Carmine: ;) Harry: yeah Bartleby: "Get me my spear from over there." I'm still holding the door closed. "What is that, anyway?" Yin: What do you guys do? Harry: hmmm Harry: well ill go grab the spear while he holds the door shut Yin: Quorra that thing fell under your purview if you want to ask. Harry: "it's a long armed thing" Harry: I rip the spear out of the bed Harry: 2d6 strenght Fortuna: Harry, strenght: [5, 5] = 10 quorra: What the hell was it? Yin: That looked like a Choker, nasty twisted things that live in the dark places and hate anything that smells of the light of the surface, or light of anything really. The name is pretty straightforwards on the fact that they try to strangle things till its lights out. Yin: Where did you learn of chokers? Carmine: cloakers and chokers Harry: ok guys i know what the next enemy will be Harry: a poker Carmine: seriously this game Yin: Bartleby, as you hold the door steady you hear nothing. quorra: My mother used to tell me stories of the black monsters that waited in the dark to choke bad children. Yin: http://labs.echonest.com/Uploader/index.html?trid=TRYSVOS14993A3C7D3 Harry: did i get the spear Bartleby: Okay, I take the spear from Harry with a small nod. Yin: Yar you got the spear out, no problem. Harry: ok then Harry: lets swing open the door quorra: Carmine should light the way. quorra: It seems pretty scared of that. Carmine: aight Yin: You open the door and the hallway isn't there. Carmine: ... Bartleby: ...what is? Carmine: nothing? a room? a wall? Yin: Mostly darkness, in the light you can see stone floor, unmarked, solid. Carmine: are we trapped here forever Carmine: "well, shit" quorra: I don't suppose anybody knows how to teleport us out of here. Carmine: "should we try opening again?" Carmine closes and opens door Bartleby: "Worth a try." Yin: When you open the door again you can see stone walls, 3 of them, the area beyond is smaller then the room you are in. It is all stone, the corners are carved like pillars. Harry: carmine go light it up Bartleby: Is this just a game of Betrayal at House on the Hill Carmine: so far Yin: If I had that boardgame it would be a lot easier to have come up with rooms for the house. Carmine: totally called it Bartleby: oh shit, who's the traitor? Bartleby looks at harry Carmine: harry, duh quorra: Good question. quorra looks at Harry like Jim Halpert. Yin: But also nah. Carmine hits harry Bartleby: Anyway Harry: harry and neither does waffle understand that reference Carmine: oh Carmine: it is a fun game Carmine: you should play it Bartleby: Okay you have to come play Betrayal with me sometime Waffle Yin: I want to play it, I've only watched it played. Yin: But yeah, the room beyond the door is small, you can see everything in it, the walls are stone, the floor is empty. Bartleby: but anyway, this room is just a small square room? Does that have any exits? Yin: You don't see any exits. Bartleby: Let's close it again then. Carmine close and open Harry: just keep on trying Yin: You open it again and it is the same room, the floor isn't empty though. Carmine: ?? Yin: In the middle of the room is a stone coffin. Yin: Or, I suppose sarcophagus still. Harry: cool lets open it Carmine: "hello?" Bartleby: okay, if we close it are we more likely to get something else, or to get the sarcophagus again but open this time Harry: lets do that then Carmine: 2d6+2 turn undead Fortuna: Carmine, turn undead: [2, 5] = 9 Harry: and we can just shut the door again Carmine pray pray pray Carmine close open door Yin: Carmine prepares for undead, what does the aura for your turn undead look like? Is there an aura of light or anything at all? Carmine: yes Carmine: light Carmine: auras are cool Yin: The room on the other side is the same, the sarcophagus is closed, the far wall is now open though, carved like a proper entryway. Harry: well shit son Harry: ill just open the dang thing Bartleby: "Probably better?" Harry: harry strides forwards and opens the sarcophagus Yin: You struggle with the heavy stone lid of the sarcophagus. Carmine: i stay back and keep praying quorra: Quorra aims an arrow at the sarcophagus. Bartleby: "Don't do that Harry, that's a terrble idea." Yin: You don't manage to get it open though, heavy lifting isn't really a thief's thing. Harry: :( Harry: someone open that thing Harry: we have turn undead on Carmine: "oh sucellus please take this suffering (harry) from us with your power and we will praise you, and know the joy of good company" Carmine: all underbreath Bartleby: I look at the other two with a questioning eyebrow raised Bartleby: as if to ask them their opinion on Harry's propoal Carmine brandishes holy stick quorra: "I'm as lost as you guys, but opening sarcophagi is rarely a good way to avoid eldritch horrors." Yin: Also I feel like you guys are forgetting that the far wall is an opening now. Harry: oh Harry: well lets go through there then Yin: You can walk past the sarcophagus if you want. Bartleby: Yeah, that's what I wanted to look at instead Bartleby: the "probably better" thing Carmine: ok sure Carmine: lets do this Harry: STRIDE Bartleby: Can we see anything through the doorway Yin: Shedding the light out you see more doorways like this one, looks like you've ended up in a crypt somehow. Carmine PRAY Harry: this place sucks Harry: pray for your god to get us the fuck outa here Harry: lets make our way through the crypt then i guess Bartleby: Okay, I'll head out, poking the floor and walls with my spear to check for traps and things Carmine: we cant be out till sucellus lets us out Harry: fuck sucellus Harry: more like suckullus Carmine: i have a undead-turning lightstick, and light armor Harry: harry walks behind bartleby Carmine: i got this shit Harry: spinning his whip like a propeller again Yin: Entering the room and checking it out more properly reveals two walls lined with these entryways to stone sarcophagi, over along one wall is a section with a brass chain hanging in front of it containing much smaller sarcophagi, and at the other end is a staircase that leads upwards. Harry: STAIRCASE Harry: LETS RUN FOR IT Bartleby: how do you mean hanging in front of it? Carmine pray pray brandish pray quorra: Let's go upstairs. Bartleby: like, a single chain or multiple? Vertical or horizontal? Yin: You know those things they set up for making the lines at theaters and the like? Bartleby: Gotcha Yin: Yar. Bartleby: okay yes let's go upstairs Harry: who wants to race to it Harry: ill roll a blank 2d6 for it quorra: 2d6 race Fortuna: quorra, race: [1, 6] = 7 Harry: 2d6 race Fortuna: Harry, race: [6, 6] = 12 Carmine: run ahead Harry: HAH HAAAH Carmine: test the stars for us Harry: i do so Bartleby: the stars have been tested and found lacking in warmth or humanity Harry: I flex Harry: feeling confident now that ive beaten quorra Harry: and thus gain a +500 mod to every roll Bartleby: only the cold light of a million years and the shrill of distant pipes Harry: sure Yin: Harry races ahead of the rest of you on the staircase as it turns upwards, till he smacks suddenly into a metal surface. No damage. Shortly afterwards everyone catches up, the light source coming up with them revealing a large metal door. Harry: :C Harry: is there a lock on it Bartleby: "We must be inside the crypt!" Carmine: !! Bartleby: er, tomb Carmine: mausoleum Yin: You can see locking mechanisms Harry, yeah. Bartleby: That place. The one with the symbols. Harry: then ill lock pick it Harry: 2d6+2 Fortuna: Harry, 2d6+2: [6, 3] = 11 Bartleby: were there symbols? I feel like there was something inscribed on the outside Harry: yeeeee Carmine: Carmine doesnt remember Yin: Yeah, Harry you pop the lock no problem, how do you do it? Harry: with a paperclip and a piece of twine Bartleby: It looks like I am misremembering actually Carmine turns to check sarcophogi Harry: i push the door open triumphantly Harry: and flex Yin: So yeah, you unlock the door. Yin: You can't see any sarcophagi from up here on the stairs, you don't see anything else either though, just stairs and stone. Carmine: whew Bartleby: So can we open the iron door then?? Yin: Yup. Bartleby: I do so Bartleby: Carefully! Bartleby: Just a crack at first, if possible Harry: i slam it open Bartleby: harry you fuck Bartleby: if this kills us I'll kill you Yin: Beyond the door is the backyard of the Manor again, moonlight shines down upon the manor. You don't see anything out there, stone paths, grass, all the lanterns are lit. quorra: Quorra slaps Harry in the back of his head. quorra: 2d6 Fortuna: quorra, 2d6: [4, 2] = 6 quorra: Unless that's dex, in which case +1 Bartleby: Okay, quick look around. Discern Realities. Bartleby: 2d6-1 Fortuna: Bartleby, 2d6-1: [4, 5] = 8 Yin: Ask one question. Bartleby: uhm... the big question in my mind is how fast the moon is moving, i.e. is time still sped up. So... "What is about to happen?" I guess? Yin: Alright, looking up at the moon you see it is past midnight. And watching it you can tell that it is indeed setting, whatever led night to fall so rapidly does not seem to be able to make the night longer. Carmine: "SEE BARTLEBY!!! Sucellus showed us at the beginning, this would be our way out of that awful house!" Yin: By your reckoning it will be a couple of hours yet before dawn. Harry: JINKIES LETS GET OUTIE Yin: But most of the night is past. Harry: shall we run down the path out Bartleby: "Yeah, yeah, hooray for suffering okay." Carmine beams Yin: Additionally, all the windows in the manor are lit up from within, what had been peeling paint and rot before is now the mansion in full splendor. quorra: Quorra loves a good story. Bartleby: "Question: do you think our chances of survival are better in this house or out in the forest? I'm leaning toward the forest, personally." Yin: The lanterns adorning the grounds outside are all lit as well. quorra: Quorra was also attacked by shrieking grubs and a pig's intestines today. quorra: She is thinking it might not be so bad to just leave. Bartleby: "Just ordinary beasts to deal with out there." Harry: "Yeah lets go through the forest, and also we know the way back from the path" Carmine: (are we really free???) Bartleby: "All right. Harry, I hate to even ask you for help like this... but can you scout ahead and make sure there's nothing waiting for us in front?" Harry: "....." Harry: "yeah sure okay" Harry: harry skips forwards Harry: and the MOMENT he gets out of sight Bartleby: "I'll be right behind you." Harry: falls over screams and makes choking noises Yin: You remember you saw two gates in the walls, the one in the wall along the side of the house and the gate at the front you came in through. Bartleby: "Well not right behind you. But close." Bartleby: oh yeah, I forgot about that Yin: Also you watch Harry fall over and scream and make choking noises. Bartleby: The front gate is still broken though to my (incorrect) knowledge, so that's probably where I'd go Harry: but i was out of sight Bartleby: *have us go Bartleby: we weren't that far behind you Harry: embarassing Yin: Alright. Bartleby: yes Harry: harry stands up brushes himself off Harry: and goes Yin: You catch up on Harry who had fallen over making choking noises and screaming. Yin: Ta das. Bartleby: "For shit's sake." Harry: "soethigng tried to invade my mind but i fought it off with my superior mental fortitute" Bartleby: "..." Yin: Something hits the ground next to Harry with a thud. Bartleby: "I almost believe you, but I still don't." Bartleby: "Gah!" Carmine: "we should beat Harry's head to make sure its out" Bartleby: actually let me retrorephrase that to "I almost believe you, except I don't." Harry: so what fell next to me Bartleby: what is the thing Yin: It looks like a shingle from the roof of the manor. Carmine: ?? Harry: great Harry: somethings up there Harry: SO I CLIMB THE HOUSE TO GET UP Harry: using a drain pipe Carmine: 2d6+2 DISCERN Fortuna: Carmine, DISCERN: [3, 4] = 9 Yin: There is no drain pipe in sight. Bartleby: what no just move you fucker Bartleby: grab him and pull him to his feet Bartleby: well, knees I guess I 'm kind ashort Harry: harry tries all his might to climb the house Carmine: what here is not what it appears to be??? Yin: Well, the house is an easy answer to that, but one you already know. Yin: Um. Yin: But yar, sides that it al is what it appears to be. The wall around the manor, the wall of the manor, the shingle is clearly a shingle. Harry: okay Harry: in that case Harry: harry throws the shingle back through a window Harry: a final fuck you to the house Harry: and heads to the front gate Bartleby: And we follow? Bartleby: I follow at least Harry: <3 Harry: harry makes a heart gesture to bartleby Carmine: follow but not closely Carmine: let Harry run into trouble first Bartleby: far enough behind that if something grabs him from around the corner I'll be about a step away from stabbing it Bartleby: so three or four paces back Harry: harry walks blindly to the gate Harry: so brave Harry: so manly Carmine: yeah ill stay behind Bartleby Yin: Harry walks blindly towards the iron gate, going past the corner of the house and not being grabbed by anything or attacked by anything. Harry: harry is so brave and manly it is unreal Harry: everyone is astounded Harry: he reaches the gate Yin: He continues on towards the gate, walking past the fountain now running with water and towards the gate which is decidedly standing up, no longer rusted, the metal gleaming in the moonlight. Carmine: is getting out really so easy all i had to do was open a door three times Bartleby: "Don't drop your guard now." Carmine: i got the magic touch Harry: he opens the gate Harry: gallantly Yin: The gate does not open. Carmine: climb it Bartleby: what is preventing it from opening? Harry: yeah i climb it Yin: There is a lock built to the two doors of the gate, it seems locked. Bartleby: ah, ok Yin: The water of the fountain trickles along. Bartleby: It would probably be harder to break than the rusty gate, wouldn't it Harry: ill pick it Harry: 2d6+2 Fortuna: Harry, 2d6+2: [5, 4] = 11 Carmine: are we being followed Harry: fuck uuuuuu gate Yin: Yes, but it doesn't really affect what you roll for your move. Yin: Are you? Bartleby: oh, ok Harry: bartleby is the perfect height to stand om Harry: on Bartleby: is Quorra actually missing, or just afk? Yin: I think afk. Bartleby: okay Carmine: whew Yin: Cause I haven't done anything quite so entertaining as sneaking someone away without everyone knowing. Bartleby: that would have been a good twist quorra: Sorry, Mibbit froze on me an dI just got like 100 messages. Carmine: do i see anything behind us quorra: Are we sneaking through the forest away from here? Yin: You don't see anything at a glance. Carmine: sneaking out the gate Bartleby: anyway yes I'll give Harry his boots Bartleby: boost Harry: am i standing on bartleby Harry: excellent Harry: i stand on him quorra: Sweet. Harry: and land outside the gate Bartleby: fuck, what is it this time Bartleby: turning to look Yin: Carmine as you looked around searching for any sign of followers you kept your eye on the mansion, you missed noticing that the previously cherubic statues of the fountain were now all devils carrying skulls, and more importantly that one of them had tossed a skull at you. Carmine: fuck Yin: 1d6 Fortuna: Yin, 1d6: [5] = 5 Carmine: weeping angels Yin: You take 5 damage. Carmine: what about armoe Carmine: r Yin: As you turn around you see all the statues around the fountain leap into the air and swarm towards you. Yin: Oh right, so 4 damage then. Harry: oh yeah i guess i woudlnt Harry: we'll have to run like hekcy then Bartleby: so you can slam the gate shut if you like, but I'm slamming it wide open Harry: oh Yin: Right, Quorra so you stop to shoot an arrow towards them, but stopping to take the shot you stand still for too long and a pair of them slam into you, the statues moving faster then you had anticipated. Harry: no i meant went you guys ran out Yin: 1d6+1 Fortuna: Yin, 1d6+1: [1] = 2 Harry: i aint locking you in there Bartleby: oh Bartleby: Locking us in seemed kind of in character Harry: old harry would Harry: new harry will only lock one person in Harry: a sacrifice to escape Carmine: he would leave me, the shit Harry: yeah Harry: you friendzoned him Harry: sorry Yin: So Quorra you just got slammed into by 2 of the statues. Harry: A SACRIFICE MUST BE MADE Harry: harry runs quorra: I try to tumble and kick them off. Yin: The other 6 are flying quickly towards the rest of you. Bartleby quit. carmiine quit. Yin quit. quorra: Uhh. quorra: Wut Igfig: uh Igfig: hmm Carmine: hmm Carmine: weird mibbit shit Harry: hum Igfig: yeah, mibbit froze a lot Igfig: for me at least Igfig: Fortuna are you okay? Igfig: 2d6+1 Defend Fortuna: Igfig, Defend: [5, 5] = 11 Igfig: whoops Harry: last thing said was you slam the door and get in the way Yin joined #pwot_dnd. Carmine: how did my phone rejoin it is across the room Carmine: wtf Yin: And I am back. Bartleby: While you were out I rolled an 11 for my Defend move Yin: So last thing I saw from you guys was Carmine wiffing with her staff. Harry: Igfig 2d6+1 Defend 22:48 Fortuna Igfig, Defend: [5, 5] = 11 Harry: tru Yin: Did you get the damage I rolled for that? quorra: I rolled a 7 to tumble and push away the statues. Yin: Yar, I saw that. Harry: harry is ollying the fuck outie 22:43 Fortuna Carmine, whack: [4, 1] = 5 22:43 Carmine 22:43 quorra 1s6+` 22:43 Harry outie so hard you cant believe it 22:43 quorra Wops. 22:43 quorra 2d6+1 22:43 Fortuna quorra, 2d6+1: [1, 5] = 7 22:43 Bartleby okay, anyhoo after I slam the gate open I'd turn to hold off the demon things to give the other two some time to ge Fortuna: Don't be a bad sport. Carmine: yeah Harry Yin: Right, so looks like you guys didn't get any of my stuff then. Carmine: stop being a bad sport Yin: So: Yin: Carmine your staff swing fails to connect with any of the statues as most fly past, and two of them slam into you while you are off balance and knock you to the ground. Yin: 1d6+1 Fortuna: Yin, 1d6+1: [6] = 7 Yin: Ouch. Carmine: oof Yin: And Quorra you manage to roll away from the two statues that slammed into you, they are still close by but they aren't right on top of you anymore. Yin: And alright Bartleby, what are you doing with your defende holds? quorra: I just keep running. Bartleby: Well, I'd be trying to halve the damage Carmine took there, if that's possible Bartleby: and actually redirect it to myself as well, I can take it more than she can Carmine: thanks bro Yin: Alright, I'm thinking you trip her up and the statues go flying past her and towards you then. Bartleby: sure Carmine: hmf Yin: So you take half that rounded down, and then your armor, so you take no damage from them. Bartleby: Ayup Carmine: haha Yin: Another two were bearing down on you already, so: Yin: 1d6+1 Fortuna: Yin, 1d6+1: [5] = 6 Bartleby: and... is Quorra going to be okay? Can I hold the remaining 1? Harry: harry is a mile away by now Bartleby: can I halve this damage on myself? Does that work? Yin: Looks like Quorra has gained some space between her and the statues that attacked her. Yin: It is a different attack, you'd have to spend another hold for that. Bartleby: Yeah, I'll spend my last hold on that Bartleby: which again reduces my damage to 0 Bartleby: wow Yin: And two of them go flying past the lot of you catching up to Harry quickly. Carmine: guys see the thing is, if these things can fly will a gate stop them Carmine: ah Yin: Yup, Fighters are good at fighting. Bartleby: I just absorbed 13 damage without a scratch, whoa Harry: aw Harry: ill just keep running Bartleby: okay, now we all run like fuck I think Harry: whats a roll to sprint away from scary things Bartleby: defy danger Yin: So Harry is past the gate. Yin: +strength cause it'd be like athletics. Harry: 2d6 Fortuna: Harry, 2d6: [4, 2] = 6 Harry: dang Bartleby: we're all past the gate, aren't we? Bartleby: or like right at the gate Carmine: i fell short i think Carmine: cause you tripped me Carmine: jerk Yin: You are probably just past the gate, yar, Quorra wasn't earlier but she is running now so she could be, and Carmine is still on the other side of the gate, yeah. Bartleby: to save your ass quorra: Should I roll to run as well? Yin: The two statues dogging harry slam into him from behind, knocking him to the ground. Yin: 1d6+1 Fortuna: Yin, 1d6+1: [3] = 4 quorra: 2d6 Fortuna: quorra, 2d6: [1, 6] = 7 quorra: I RUN FAST. Bartleby: And I guess I can do my run too Bartleby: 2d6+2 Fortuna: Bartleby, 2d6+2: [5, 4] = 11 Harry: Fuck u Bartleby: but I am not getting ahead of anyone else Harry: i have an idea Bartleby: I want to be at the back Harry: lets turn them into mounts Harry: jump on their back Yin: You still have hp left Harry, let me think, you've got 2 hp left right? Right. Harry: and use my whip like a thing Yin: You're on the ground Harry. Harry: oh Bartleby: so instead of running full speed, can I be running slower and still sort of half-defending? Harry: can i try and do the neigh thing Yin: They knocked you down for your failure, and they are landing on top of you. Bartleby: no mechanical benefit I guess, just in the fiction Bartleby: distracting the statues Yin: Carmine you are running away, the statues were distracted from you so you seem fine. Carmine: :) Carmine: lets leave Harry to die Carmine: and gtfo Harry: is anyone nearish me Yin: Bartleby you are having no problem keeping the statues swarming you at bay while moving away from the gate. Yin: Carmine and Quorra are both passing you now, Harry. Harry: I shoot out my whip and trip them Harry: 2d6+2 Fortuna: Harry, 2d6+2: [3, 6] = 11 Yin: While they are near the statues tear into your back. Yin: 1d6+1 Fortuna: Yin, 1d6+1: [1] = 2 Carmine: rip Harry: alive Yin: Oh man, I think you have 1 hp still. Harry: with 1 hit Carmine: aw Harry: so i trip those fucks trying to leave me behind Harry: we ride togetha we die togetha quorra: I was going to help you. quorra: But now as I tumble I punch Harry right in his dick quorra: 2d6+1 Fortuna: quorra, 2d6+1: [6, 5] = 12 quorra: Die,. Harry: yeah ok Carmine: boom Yin: Roll 1d6 Harry: so i just died via dick punch Harry: but at least i tripped you guys quorra: 1d6 Fortuna: quorra, 1d6: [4] = 4 Bartleby: can harry roll for death's door please Yin: Yeah, you tripped Quorra so Quorra killed you. Harry: alright Harry: 2d6 death Fortuna: Harry, death: [3, 6] = 9 Yin: And hold on a second: Harry: welp Harry: im ok with this Carmine: :( Harry: harry dies at the very end doing what he did best Harry: being a douche bag Bartleby: and yet he ain't dead Yin: Alright, so as you slowly lose your vision you feel the statues taking off, lifting your body up. Bartleby: oh Bartleby: better Carmine: WOOO Yin: And the Black Gates come into sight before you. Harry: i fist bump death and am like "lets do this bruh" Yin: You see Death approaching you once again, he seems agitated. Carmine: "holy shit, Harry, again??" -death Yin: I told you to deal with that! He points beyond you, you can't look again, but you know what you would see if you could. Yin: But you fall yet again while running away from it. Harry: "Didnt have the opportunity, I said "hey lets do this thing" and no one else was ok with it so we just ended up kinda leaving" Harry: "i was gunna once I recovered bro I swear" Harry: "instead though, I got punched in the dong" Yin: Meanwhile with the rest of you guys, the two statues chasing Quorra are aiding the two that attacked Harry in carrying him, they are flying his body back towards the manor. Yin: Bartleby you still have 4 statues swarming at you, what do you do? Harry: theyre gunna dephile my corpse quorra: bye Harry. Yin: Back with Harry: Harry: i tap my feet impatiently Yin: I do not care. Will you go back? Harry: "Nah" Carmine: ha Harry: "wellllll" Bartleby: Well, if the others are more or less free, I'm just gonna burst through these four and run my little heart out Bartleby: 2d6+2 defy danger Fortuna: Bartleby, defy danger: [6, 5] = 13 Harry: "if you let me I dont see why NOT but to be fair this is sorta it" Bartleby: DANGER DEFIED Carmine: BOOM Harry: "I did my thing" Yin: And you do just that, your bash the statues off of you and your feet carry you away from them in a blink of an eye, quickly catching up on Quorra and Carmine while leaving the statues behind. Yin: Back with Harry again: Carmine hi-fives Bartleby Yin: You have served me poorly. You shall return. Bartleby: right on Harry: "gOD" Yin: Harry you awake to the sight of the ground beneath you, the fountain is drawing near. Harry: time for harry to show his worth by being hella fast Harry: hella rad Bartleby: but I guess that's going to happen again anyway Harry: and that he can live his life as a world famous 100 meter dasher Harry: 2d6 RUN Fortuna: Harry, RUN : [1, 5] = 6 Harry: fuck Carmine: hahaha Harry: harry doesnt even try Harry: he just lies face down in the fountain instead Yin: The gate slams shut in your face. Harry: 2d6+1 charisma ily guys lets be friends Fortuna: Harry, charisma ily guys lets be friends: [6, 3] = 10 Bartleby: well, they certainly have an intimate relationship with your insides now Harry: parley Bartleby: a little, shall we say, heart-to-heart Harry: haha Yin: Do we want to keep doing the death saves till you fail? Harry: nah Yin: Also parley only works when you have leverage. Yin: Alright. Harry: harry wants to flip death off Carmine: you dont have leverage Harry Yin: The final time then: Yin: Your vision comes again and you see the black gate in the distance, you can see Death standing over by it in the distance, nowhere near you. Harry: hes just sighing Harry: face in hands quorra: I shoot an arrow and Harry. quorra: 2d6+1 Fortuna: quorra, 2d6+1: [1, 5] = 7 Carmine: smdh -death Bartleby: I don't think we can see him from here Yin: And then you are dragged backwards away from it, the white expanse around the black gate disappearing into a haze of grey. Harry: shaking my dead head?? Bartleby: because I think we're still running Carmine: i am Yin: And you are surrounded by grey, and the grey is malice, and suffering. Harry: i high five the grey Carmine: SUCELLUS! Yin: Yeah, as you guys run through the forest the lanterns along the side of the road, which had been lit, start flickering. Bartleby: I am not stopping until I can't see the gates of Morsten Manor in the moonlight Bartleby: er, lanternlight Carmine: well, shit Yin: Vines and brush start growing up around them again, as the thinnest ray of dawn creeps over the tree tops. Bartleby: uh oh Carmine: i am still light tho quorra: Yeah Quorra just keeps running. Bartleby: oh! quorra: Fuck those gates. Bartleby: Yeah we keep running Yin: Morning comes. Carmine: run forever Carmine: fuck Harry quorra: "Hey who even was that guy?" Carmine shrug Yin: As the light falls the road crumbles back to its prior state of disrepair, and if you looked back you'd see the house returning to a broken down husk, but you don't turn back. Yin: You just run. Bartleby: "Well, I guess he's dead now. Probably. You never know with that guy." Harry: as they enter the town Harry: they see Harry: harrys twin brother Bartleby: everybody is harry Carmine: 2d6 Fortuna: Carmine, 2d6: [3, 4] = 7 Snarry: he sees them and begins jogging after them Carmine: kill Snarry Snarry: yin whats happening Yin: Well, I'm thinking I'm going to say no to the snarry. Snarry: ahaha Yin: Just no in general, the town is still sleeping, its shutters and windows and doors all locked up tight. Carmine: did we win? Carmine: did we lose? Snarry: you didntlose Yin: You survived Morsten Manor. quorra: I killed a guy by punching his dick. Bartleby: Hurrah! Bartleby: Everybody survived! Carmine: WOOO Yin: That place is still like, super mega what the fuck is wrong with it maybe haunted. Yin: But you got out. Carmine: maybe? Bartleby: We didn't get any loot Snarry: lets burn it down sometime Bartleby: but we lost Harry, so it was still a net gain Bartleby: oh wait! Bartleby: Silverware! Carmine: ^5 quorra: Yeah. Bartleby: We got a lot of silverware Carmine: awww yesss quorra: We got a bunch of silverware. Carmine: and knives Yin: Yeah, the silverware Quorra nabbed is still with you. Bartleby: Well then Yin: You're probably not going to be able to sell it in this town, but a couple towns over they probably haven't heard of the manor. Bartleby: Let us carouse. Bartleby: anybody got a good one-liner to end us off? quorra: "Fuck Harry." Yin: And scene. Bartleby: "Yeah, fuck that guy." Snarry: harry is the most entertaining character ive ever played Bartleby: WOOO Bartleby: Harry was a great character Bartleby: and if he'd survived longer his arc woulda been pretty interesting Yin: Who was also a monster magnet. Snarry: true Carmine: so is the game over? Snarry: im going to incorporate harry into 5e Bartleby: he'll have to be some kind of ghost Yin: I found it particularly entertaining those times when you did stuff like go to steal the potion or help with the other monster, and forgot about the monster that had just been attacking you. Yin: Those moments were funny. Carmine: i still need to convert Bartleby! Bartleby: Also Yin, I was sort of hoping you were setting us up for a twist where it turns out the forest is even more dangerous and just as haunted as the manor Yin: I'll be honest, I was considering just having the forest turn you around and you'd end up back at the manor. Yin: That is why those lanterns on the street were lit up. Bartleby: something like that could have worked too, but that'd be a bit more cliche Snarry: you should have killed us all Bartleby: or at least easier Yin: Yar. Bartleby: but yeah, good game! Carmine: everyones a winner Yin: Yar yar, I also wanted to make sure we ended it this week though, it's been fun, and I've learned a bunch of stuff. Bartleby: For sure Snarry: except harry Bartleby: Next week, back to Eberron! Snarry: harry lost
